Lapeer County Homes on Acreage
Discovering Rural Lapeer County Farms, Mini Farms, Homesteads, Hunting Property
Nestled in Michigan’s Thumb region, Lapeer County is known for its scenic countryside, equestrian facilities, working farms, hunting land and more . It’s a place where a person can still buy a nice house on some acreage at an affordable price. Like many areas there are the higher dollar areas- mostly in the southern part of the county. Metamora Hunt is a desirable area that typically shows in the price, but it is a beautiful area. The farther north in the county you go, the more you tend to get for your money.
The Metamora Hunt area, centered around the historic village of Metamora and covers parts of Oxford, Dryden and Metamora townships. Without a map you know when you’re there- it has a feeling that you’ll understand the first time you enter the Metamora Hunt area.
Throughout the county you will still find several good sized working farms producing everything from wheat, hay, soybeans, corn, potatoes, carrots… When driving through the county it is not uncommon to pass both beef and dairy cattle.
More common is the home on 5 or 10 or 20 acres with a garden or orchard, goats, chickens, ducks, horses, a beef or two.
In recent years, a renewed interest in local produce and farm-to-table dining has brought attention to Lapeer County’s agricultural heritage. Farmers markets have found homes in many of the towns in and around Lapeer County.
